Shoreline Painting Project

Hey everyone! This is Pete with your next Shoreline CC update! As of Wednesday, we wrapped up a huge painting project at the church. Pastor Tonye's vision was to transform the main spaces of the building from an institutional feel ('institutional white') to something homier. After weeks of consideration, PT chose a couple browns for the hallway and a green for the sanctuary and overflow room, plus trim colors--handling an onslaught of input/opinions from many other people :) I am not envious of those responsible for choosing colors! :)

I was asked to head up the job. Mike Wiseman offered to oversee the painting crew (he actually helped paint the church, then-school, ten years ago), and after a lot of back and forth, he, PT and I nailed down Memorial Day Weekend and the time directly before and after. The date was a praise in and of itself just because of the trouble we had getting a time to work for volunteers and our other events.

Beginning Thursday, we started to pull things off the walls and pack up. Karl lent us some scaffolding, so I went to (Pastor Tonye's old house on Trinidad actually) to help tear it down--the scaffolding turned out to be an amazing blessing. We didn't have to use nearly as many extension ladders. Thirty-five foot gables are gnarly on a ladder! The whole experience was much safer and more efficient--and fun too! We once had to raise our 40' extension ladder to the ridge beam of the church for a fabric dancer gal and it was pretty gnarly--took five or six of us to handle the ladder.

We all showed up Friday morning--about 16 people in total--a huge crew to manage working really quickly. Some had painting experience; others didn't. I was certainly stretched--trusting the Lord to lead the group to get the place back in order for the Saturday night service and ultimately the Wednesday night service which was our deadline--but balance time with quality.

Seven long work days later, the church was put back together (for the most part) and the majority of the painting finished. We actually still have a bunch of trim, but a few of our painters are going to be coming in over the next few weeks to knock it out. Praise to the Lord for His work to make this all happen. There was a lot to get done and a lot of decisions to make, but no major hiccups. Oh...did I mention that Shoreline decided to be one of the food vendors at the Art in the Park in Morro Bay on this same weekend? Three days of grilling tri-tip. That's a whole other story for Landon to tell :)

Suzanne gathered a group of ladies on her birthday to make these edible works of art. Proceeds went to this summer's China mission trip. The cupcakes were a sight to be seen.

Update

Well the Women's Conference is happening on Fri evening and Sat! I am very excited to hear what the LORD will have all the different ladies share! I am also excited to be one of the women sharing! The LORD has given me some cool stuff to share so I can hardly wait! We will be sure to get lots of pictures. and I think there might be some audio too. I also heard that there will be a camping trip that some of the guys are going on. Hoping that we get some 'documentation' of that too! 

The wind is still blowing, last night rather late we heard a crash (not real loud) we went to investigate and found that our metal gate that goes across our drive had blown down. the wind was blowing audibly in the upper parts of the tall eucalyptus trees, it was rather eery.  

Wed night service was great, seems like more people are hanging out in the Coffee House before and after the serve. People of all ages, which is cool to see them interact. I really love serving in there. It is fun to find out what all the kids are doing, and what (mission) trips they are going on.  

Just wanted to give a quick update. No funny animals stories... the baby goats are getting bigger and the one we have delivered as a fair goat , we took a friend to (the little Pygora that he thinks is his sister 'he' being Edwin a much bigger Boer goat!) He is much happier now! They were very cute when they were greeting each other!

Hey all!

I wasn't actually in town this weekend, but I heard that this Sunday's worship and the sermon went particularly well together. Praise the LORD for that. The set is all about surrender, something I know I need to learn a lot about.

E-Week!!!

Here is the LONG awaited E-Week slideshow! E-week was such a blast...I hope that those who are following this blog and were able to be here for the week will share their stories as well. For me, I was just so blessed to see our church family coming together and being used for God's glory! The week was made practically perfect for me when my family showed up on Friday and stayed with me for the weekend. They didn't wake up in time to make the trek up Madonna Mountain with me, but they did join my church family for the worship service at the rock! There was just something beautiful about having both my "families" together on such a momentous holiday!

Celebrating our Lord's resurrection this year was filled with joy and new life and fun stories! Please...if you are reading this and want to share how the Lord worked in you during E-Week, feel free to leave a comment with your "epic" story! =)

Worship 05-03-09

This weekend was a blessing. It is fun to watch as our fellowship begins to serve each other more and more. The sermon this week was about the need for us as believers to be all about Jesus and to love each other by honoring each other's convictions. I highly recommend listening to it online here.
